Things you’ll need are:
- One large soup pan
- Large metal or heat-safe bowl, that fits tightly on your chosen pan
- One brick
- A small, heat-safe bowl that will sit securely on brick
- Large quantity of herbal flowers like roses, mint, sage or lavender
Freeze Water in Large Bowl
To prepare your own rosewater, start by filling the large bowl with water and keep it aside for freezing.
Set Up Rosewater Supplies
Place a brick in the center of the large pan and fill it with water, until the top of the brick is in level with water. Place the small, dry bowl on brick. Place a thick layer of rose petals on the water around the brick. You can also try any other fragrant herb flower such as lavender and mint.
Heat, then Cool Flower Water
Begin heating the pan, and just as it begins to steam, place the ice-filled bowl over it. Check the level of the flower water in the small, inner bowl. Once it is filled, turn off heat. Allow the cooled flower water to cure overnight in refrigerator, before using. This helps develop the full scent.
